I'm finally taking some time for myself!

September is never an easy time! It's not easy to get back into a healthy rhythm when you're so busy with family and work. That's why it's so important to start thinking about yourself right away, and make time for yourself. Quite simply, this is healthy selfishness, and it's all about listening to your body and its needs.

Why take time for yourself?

Taking time out for yourself gives your body a chance to breathe and recharge its batteries. Stress levels can then be reduced. Goodbye to the "pressure cooker" effect, emotional balance is more easily maintained. It's also about remembering who you are, what you love, what you're passionate about or what makes you laugh. Finally, when we take care of ourselves, we are often much more patient with others, since stress is reduced. Relations with those around you are therefore improved.

What exactly is taking time for yourself?

It's knowing how to cut work

There's a time for everything, so learn to keep your professional and personal life separate by not bringing work home with you. The same applies to digital technology, which takes up a lot of our time.

Learning to do things on your own

Even if you share many things with your partner, you also need to do things alone and just for you. This could be anything from pilates to blogging or poetry. These moments will help you to trust yourself and learn more about yourself.

Doing things that give us pleasure

Taking time for yourself doesn't necessarily mean taking one or two hours every day to do something. Of course, it's a good idea to find a sporting or creative hobby to take up once or twice a week, but it's also a good idea to have a little time to yourself every day. You could, for example, make that tea you're particularly fond of at the moment, watch that 2-minute web-series that makes you laugh... In short, the important thing is to vary the sources of pleasure and allow yourself at least one a day.

Sharing with others

And because it's not just a paradox, taking time for yourself also means sharing moments with friends and family, or meeting new people. We assert ourselves and enjoy these convivial moments.

A few ideas for taking care of yourself:

> Reading: an escape from everyday life and an exercise in memory.

> Pamper yourself: go to the spa for a massage, or meet up with friends for a hammam. Nothing could be more rejuvenating!

> Writing: whether it's a blog, a book, a short story or simply a notebook, writing helps you take a step back.

> Decorating your apartment: to feel at home and have an interior that you like and feel good in.

> Opt for a creative hobby: they're a great way to clear the head and exorcise tension. They also develop the imagination and require great concentration.

> Sport: physical activity of any kind lets you let off steam, and is good for your body and mind, your health and your spirit.
